1st Customer Review : DeLonghi designed #1 coffee maker!
When my $100 coffee maker quit, I researched coffee makers and found this model from DeLonghi I hadn't heard of before. The design of this model sets a new standard for on-the-counter coffee makers. It is incredible to be able to put the filter, coffee, AND WATER in the maker without moving the machine. The caraffe doesn't drip when pouring into the swing out arm (or into the cup later) so there's no messy drips to wipe up at any time.
The digital clock isn't the quickest to set since you have to hold a button in as it changes in minutes only, but hopefully that won't need set often.
The "aroma" button really works! There actually is a difference in the brewing aroma with it on.
Most importantly, the end product was a great cup of coffee! I'm thrilled with the coffee maker and haven't found a single negative aspect yet, including the price. I HIGHLY recommend this model. Kudos Delonghi, you really outdid yourself here. Amazon's shipping was simple and fast. The...

2nd Customer Review : not quite hot enough
I just got this coffee maker a few days ago and for the most part I like it, but, and this is a major but for me, the coffee just isn't quite hot enough. I find myself throwing my cup in the microwave to get it piping hot, not scalding but hot. It's nice looking, the front water loading is convenient, the coffee tastes good, but I wouldn't buy it again because of the temperature issue.

I had the same leaking problem that another reviewer had. After about 1 month of daily use this unit starts leaking from the back and liquid coffee goes down to the warming plate making a mess and causing a burnt coffee smell. The company kindly sent me another unit but the same thing happened. So now they are sending me a second replacement and I chose a different model which hopefully will be more reliable. But based on the review on that unit I am not optimistic that unit is any better.

I bought two Dolce Gusto machines at Christmas - the Genio to keep at home, and the more expensive (at the time) Circolo to take to work. Well, after using them both I returned Circolo and bought another Genio. They both make great drinks, so why did I return the more expensive model for a second one of the cheaper model? One simple reason: automation. With this unit you need to babysit your drink and you need to guess how much water to put in from each capsule, and unless you have a cup with markings on the inside of it then your drinks are never going to turn out exactly the same. This is THE machine.I was looking for a machine that would stop me from going to Starbucks every day and spending 3.88 for my grande lattes. This machine does it.The coffee comes out delicious, a tiny bit of sweetness in the milk capsule (really just a tiny bit) makes it a perfect,tasty drink. The espresso is no joke. It has the perfect foam on the top, just like from SB. It is also very strong.Love it. The 15 bar pressure is almost what professional coffee machines use. It works fast, from the moment I press the power button it takes me 30 seconds to have a finished drink, no complicated clean up after either. It is very stylish! I had several people come to my house and look at it and ask me what "it" was...The cappuccino has only 80 calories so it saves you not only money but also calories. A SB latte has a lot more calories than that.

We bought this model DeLonghi single-serve coffeemaker (DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Circolo Coffeemaker, Black) based solely on it's Consumer Reports review. We've only had it a couple of weeks, but so far we are quite happy with it. We fix coffee the old-fashioned way when we get up in the morning, but almost never had an afternoon cup of coffee because we never wanted more than a single cup.

Our experience so far is the coffee is very good. The temp is consistent, and the machine is fast. My only disappointment is it isn't more automatic. It dispenses the water for as long or short of a time as you want. I assume CR must have looked at this flexibility as a benefit. The good news is you get the feel for how strong or weak to make your coffee fairly quickly, the down side is you can't leave it unattended.

1st Customer Review : Wow! I love this little machine.
I love this little machine. It is very fast and brews rich, dark coffee, espresso, and fancier coffee house drinks. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something that is quick, convenient, and goes beyond just black coffee options. I was looking for a single brew system, because even a small pot of coffee can go wasted in our household. This system lets you brew one (small) cup at a time so you have fresh coffee when you want it. As a super-bonus, this one cup system allows you to make lattes, caramel macchiato, mochas, hot chocolate, and tea as well. This has virtually eliminated my daily Starbucks run. Here are a few things I think you should know before you make a decision to buy...
1. Brewing an 8oz cup of coffee takes only one capsule, and will cost you around 0.50 to 0.60 per cup.
2. Brewing a 7 to 8 oz coffee house drink takes two capsules, so it costs double. This is also true for the hot chocolate and chai tea latte.

2nd Customer Review : Expensive investment
This little machine spits out a nice cup of coffee. A nice small cup of coffee. If you look at the instructions for each variety it reads that they all are under 8 ounces. Some are closer to the 6 ounce mark. If you go over that then you're just brewing water because the capsules run out of coffee and milk after a certain amount of water flows through them. You'll actually see it flow clear. The machine itself brews quickly and hot. It does make fancy coffee drinks (mocha, latte, cappuccino, chai, etc), but these drinks can be very expensive. A single box of capsules for a latte drink is $9.99 and only brews 8 cups (8 milk capsules, 8 coffee capsules) and these are small cups. If you want a larger mug you're going to have to use two of each. It would be fun for an office or for a dorm if you have the money to keep buying the capsules. I'd think of it as more of a once in a while thing and not something to use daily.

I bought the Piccolo in black, which came with a box of assorted pods to get me started. It makes a very good espresso for a little, automatic maker. I still go to Starbucks when I want the best, but this funny looking contraption is my everyday espresso machine, and it keeps me satisfied.

I have used every pod they offer and made every drink possible, and they are all very good. I like that I can control the coffee to milk ratio, which lets me customize my drinks according to my mood. I use only water from my reverse osmosis system, which enables me to not have to use the descaling solution, and I am sure the coffee tastes better that way. The quality of the coffee and milk in the pods is very good.

One of my favorite drinks is the dark roast espresso. I make a dopio with a single pod, and the crema is wonderful. I can't say it is as good as Starbucks, but I also can't say that many other coffee house coffees are as good as the Dolce Gusto coffee. We...

Ok so i read all the negative and positive reviews trying to figure out what was the deal with this coffee maker. Here is the thing i have found, people who really hate this coffee maker just don't understand what it is or how to use it right. Mr. Coffee has really outdone themselves with the new improvements and designs to their latest Optimal Brew 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker. When choosing a great machine, I always research and compare with all my friends. When comparing machines, 5 brands stood out with many of the best features you would expect from a coffeemaker, including most importantly, a great cup of coffee. The top 5 best thermal coffeemakers that we found were Mr. Coffee, Bunn, Cuisinart, Capresso and Zojirushi. Zojirushi was eliminated due to terrible company support. For the machines themselves, Capresso seemed to have designs that were not as easy or convenient to use. This leaves the top 3- Mr. Coffee, Bunn and Cuisinart. All three are great designs, all 3 make a great cup of coffee and all 3 have great company support. All 3 also have what every Thermal Coffeemaker has- Leak and Weak. The thermal carafe's develop leaks around the seals and the coffee is more weak than most people would like.

INITIAL REVIEW:
First: I give this four stars as the fifth will be earned if it holds up for awhile (will follow up this post when it's time)- so many items these days seem to crap out after only a few months (my water heater's still kicking and it's 43 years old!).
Second: We were beholden to Krups and replaced our old manual (no timer) unit w/ a Krups FMF5-14. Had it four months and the first time it was subjected to a spill, it fried the electronics (placed at the base of the unit). Replaced with Mr. Coffee BVMC-PSTX91 a month ago and we've been impressed.
Third: Pros-Coffee comes out at approx. 185 degrees, brews very fast, carafe is well insulated and simple to use, electronics placed on top, simple programming features, self-cleaning program, cord storage & good looks for stainless folks. Cons (not many)-the carafe needs to be cleaned with a bottle brush due to small opening (no biggie), the water reservoir lid is a little sticky sometimes, the coffee receptacle...

My husband and I received this as a wedding gift, and after a year (we used it about 10 times as we don't drink a lot of coffee), the latch that holds the area for the coffee grounds closed broke. It won't stay closed for anything and there is no way to fix it. I'm very disappointed.

I used to have a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker for about 10 yrs, & it finally died. So, I bought another one. They didn't have the same one anymore, so I bought the one most similar to what I had. Ugh... it made the WORST coffee. It was all watery, & if you tried to compensate by adding more grounds, or making the grind just a bit finer, it would clog up, & overspill from the top.

I'm very unhappy with this coffeemaker, the coffee is lukewarm and the brewing time is very long. I have e-mailed the maker this a.m. with my concerns.

2nd Customer Review : Not worth the money
My husband and I received this as a wedding gift, and after a year (we used it about 10 times as we don't drink a lot of coffee), the latch that holds the area for the coffee grounds closed broke. It won't stay closed for anything and there is no way to fix it. I'm very disappointed.

I LOVE COFFEE. Fix that - I love GOOD coffee.

I used to have a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker for about 10 yrs, & it finally died. So, I bought another one. They didn't have the same one anymore, so I bought the one most similar to what I had. Ugh... it made the WORST coffee. It was all watery, & if you tried to compensate by adding more grounds, or making the grind just a bit finer, it would clog up, & overspill from the top.

So, I gave that replacement Mr. Coffee coffeemaker away. I woulda paid for someone to take it, really. I'd rather go without coffee than to have to look at the sad excuse for a coffeemaker.

I was complaining about my lack of coffee at brunch one Sunday, & my dear friend said her sis just got this DeLonghi coffeemaker as a gift from her job, & didn't need it. So, they gave it to me.

I've had this for over 2 yrs now, & I LOVE this DeLonghi coffeemaker. I haven't used the programmable function yet, but love that I can if...

1st Customer Review : Enjoying the coffee and saving money too...
The Pros, 1. Dolce Gusto uses a 2 capsule process to make cappuccino (one for milk, another for the coffee) which is the only capsule machine I found that would do it (without adding a milk tank). 2., the results are quite good - equal to what I would pay for at a StarBucks or other store 3., it did not take long to tweak the timing and have the machine memorize my preferred settings., 4 it's quick, even using the two pod coffees or hot chocolate (the menu screen on the Creativa lets you memorize settings). The Cons, 1., I think the water tank could have been a little larger, 2., drinks are not quite as hot as I would prefer., 3., I need my 2X power reading glasses to read the menu. 4., the adjustable height cup platform is tweaky. Pricing on this model varies wildly, up to $60-$70 difference online, I never found this model in a retail store. I watched Amazon for a couple of months before finally buying when it went on sale. If you want one, be patient and watch for the best...

Great single serve coffee maker....makes great coffee..better than the Keurig single serve coffee makers as I own both brands..this is by far much better.

I bought this item as a 'Santa' present for myself and my husband for Christmas 2011, and we've used it almost every day since then! I love coffee drinks like Lattes and Macchiatos from a big brand name coffee shop, and the ones I can now make at home save me time and money, and the flavor is just as good, sometimes better! I especially like the vanilla latte and the caramel latte flavors, and my husband is a big fan of the american house blend coffee. My parents have a Tassimo at their house, and I have a Keurig at my work, and I find that I like the taste of the coffee drinks (lattes/macchiatos) from the Dolce Gusto much more. The Creativa is a very smart machine, offering to save our customized versions (my hubby likes extra coffee, sometimes I like extra milk in my coffee drinks), brews very quickly, and isn't nearly as noisy as the 1st generation Tassimo my parents have at their house! Love love love love love this machine!!!
